Remake of classic 90s teen movie 'She's All That' in the works

A remake of classic 90s teen comedy She's All That is in the works.

Released in 1999, She's All That was a modern take on the classic Pygmalion/My Fair Lady story starring Freddie Prinze, Jr., Rachael Leigh Cook and the late Paul Walker. Prinze, Jr. played a high school jock who bets his best friend (Walker) that he can turn Cooke's socially awkward art student into an unlikely prom queen.

According to TheWrap, the remake is a joint venture between entertainment company Miramax, who made the original, and Bob and Harvey Weinstein's studio The Weinstein Company. Tony Award-winning theatre director Kenny Leon will make his feature film directorial debut with the remake and Tonya Lewis Lee, wife of Spike Lee, is set to produce. Casting has yet to be announced.

The original She's All That was a big hit at the box office, grossing over $100 million (£67 million) at cinemas worldwide from a $10 million (£6.7 million) budget. Alongside Prinze, Jr., Cook and Walker, it also featured Usher, Lil' Kim and Anna Paquin in supporting roles.
