'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' trailer leaks online

The first full-length trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has leaked online ahead of its official premiere date.

The trailer is due to be out officially in IMAX theatres on Monday (April 20), however the full clip emerged online overnight. Warner Bros have rushed to remove the video, which was shot by a fan on a handheld device, though thousands of fans have now seen it.

In the clip Ben Affleck's Batman is shown coming face to face with Superman, played by British actor Henry Cavill.

The video starts with a commentator's voice asking, "Is it really surprising that the most powerful man in the world should be a figure of controversy?". Other characters in the film, including Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa's Aquaman, Ray Fisher's Cyborg and Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor, do not feature in the trailer.

The trailer will be officially shown at special 15-minute screening events held in select IMAX theatres in the US next week. It has yet to be announced when the trailer will be made available online or if similar screening events will be held in the UK.

Earlier this month (April) it was reported that the trailer will be shown before all screenings of another Warner Bros. blockbuster, Mad Max: Fury Road, which opens in UK cinemas on May 14, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Zack Snyder finished filming Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice - the eagerly anticipated sequel to 2013's Man Of Steel - in December (2014). His film is set for release on March 25, 2016.

In addition to Cavill, Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Diane Lane (Martha Kent) will all reprise their roles from Man Of Steel.
